My kids got baby land turtles for B-Day, How do I take care of these little guys??

Baby land turtles, each in a small carry container, with a small amount of water in them. I have turtle food that was with them but other than that all I know is that they are dirty, change water every day, distiled water. feed 2-3 times a day.My kids got baby land turtles for B-Day, How do I take care of these little guys??First, you need to identify exactly what kind of turtles they are, then research care needed for that type of turtle. Here is a good site that will answer a lot of questions: http://www.austinsturtlepage.com/world_oMy kids got baby land turtles for B-Day, How do I take care of these little guys??The first year of a baby land turtle's life should be spent in a twenty gallon aquarium that has been designed and planted to act as a vivarium. Fill the bottom two inches of the aquarium with potting soil that is perlite and Styrofoam bead free. In it plant low light house plants like tropical moss, ivy, creeping figs, ferns, etc. Some experts say that tropical moss is the best. The reason you plant the soil at the bottom is because baby land turtles like to dig and will sometimes dig themselves completely under the soil! The soil also helps the baby turtles develop their claws and it absorbs and controls the odor of the urine (which can be very pungent when released from the baby turtle). The soil also helps maintain a workable level of humidity in the tank. Use an aquarium light that has been installed with a plant light bulb to give light to the aquarium and replace the light when it gets dark spots on it. Keep the top of the aquarium open to give it good ventilation. Don't worry about heat lamps or hot rocks because they will dry out the aquarium. Keep the room temperature between seventy and seventy five degrees. Make sure to provide clean water every day. Water is best provided in shallow bowls that aren't slipperyć”–his will let the baby turtle get into and out of the water easily and they are also easy to remove and clean. The lip of the bowl should be level with the soil so that the baby turtles are better able to get into and out of it.My kids got baby land turtles for B-Day, How do I take care of these little guys??Since they will outgrow a 20 gallon fish tank really fast i would suggest going and getting a large (biggest you can get) rubber maid container or children's pool and filling it with potting soil and sand. As far as food i would not feed them just the pellets long term as they would probably benefit from fresh food. In order to feed them properly you will have to discover what kind of turtle they are. They also will need a large water dish and a light with uva and uvb.My kids got baby land turtles for B-Day, How do I take care of these little guys??I had 4 baby red ear turtles which I was told they were land turtles but they loved water. I got a larger plastic aquarium with a lid, bought a light for heat that snapped on the top, and put a small aquarium with water inside and built up rocks around it so they could go in and out of the water, just make sure they can get out. I feed them store bought turtle food. It was nice except their cage needed cleaned everyday because it would stink. Good Luck and have fun with your turtles. My kids got baby land turtles for B-Day, How do I take care of these little guys??I think you have baby water turtles not land turtles, keep their water clean and feed once a day,,,the best food you can feed them would be live bugs (tell the kids t catch them) and earthworms, turtles go crazy for worms

after they get larger you can try other foodsMy kids got baby land turtles for B-Day, How do I take care of these little guys??As said you need to ID them so you can take care of them properly.
